Residency Overview

The Residency requirement is designed to ensure that students develop a sense of identification and affiliation with the program, the University, and the HR profession. There are two components to the residency requirement:

Program Residency: Newly admitted students are required to attend a 2-day residency in Storrs, CT scheduled at the beginning of the semester in which they are admitted to meet with faculty, to meet with fellow students, and to attend sessions that detail program resources and expectations.

Professional Residency: The HRM program also requires students to complete a flexible professional residency. Appropriate residencies may include:

  • Meeting with faculty at the Storrs campus
  • Attendance of approved regional or national professional conferences
  • Attendance at MPS HRM annual symposium at the Storrs campus
  • Presentation of Capstone Project
