Highly qualified and experienced instructors teach students to communicate effectively through some of today’s most innovative teaching methodologies. Our beautiful, modern facility boasts ample parking and access to well-equipped computer stations, a first rate library with a new learning commons, a fitness center, an art gallery, a cafe, and student lounges.
UConn ESL classes enable students to develop and enhance their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as to prepare for the TOEFL examination. Morning, afternoon, evening, and Saturday classes are offered, giving students the opportunity to create a schedule which is convenient and meets their individual needs.
Students who do not hold student visas but whose current immigration status allows them to study in the U.S. may take classes for four (4) or more hours per week, which translates to one or more courses per semester. Students who hold F-1 student visas must study a minimum of eighteen (18) hours per week, which typically means four or more courses per semester.
Upon successful completion of each course of study, a Certificate is awarded to those students who satisfy the criteria set by UConn’s American Language Program (ALP).
